The campaign seeks to rescue 500 dogs from death. The dogs needs to be moved before the year-end from Braila to the capital in Bucharest where DogRescue today has a veterinary clinic, staff and additional private shelter for dogs. Behind the project and on location in Romania to led the operation is the NGO DogRescue Sweden in a unique collaboration with NGO DogRescue Romania.

Why Romania?

In Romania there are approximately 2.5 million homeless dogs on the streets. The number of dogs is growing every day. In autumn 2013, a law which we call the ”Death’s Law” was approved. This means that the municipalities today captures the dogs and locks them into ”death shelters” (a fenced area for dogs) operated by the municipality, where you let the dogs starve in a few weeks before they get killed with the cheapest possible methods, which often are a horribly painful way.
